Led by 22-year-old Anthony Spires, the Bakersfield Blaze knocked off the Pittsburg Diamonds, 6-1. Spires went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Blaze. The misery continues for the Diamonds, who have now dropped 18 in a row.

Spires had a key at-bat for Bakersfield in the bottom of the second. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and gave Bakersfield an early 2-0 lead.

Pittsburg manager Chris Carpenter, after the latest defeat, said, "We've got to clean it up. We've got to play better."
