Silverados Fall Short at Martinez, 7-6
|
The Martinez Clippers had to overcome a fine effort from Napa pitcher Jimmy Fisher to grab a narrow 7-6 win at Recreation Park. Fisher went 6 innings and allowed no runs. With the win, Martinez has a record of 41-50. Napa falls to 53-38.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Martinez trailing 6-3, Charley Chalfin jumped on a first pitch changeup from Dylan Hammond for a grand slam home run, sending the Clippers to a walk-off win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Chalfin said in his postgame press conference.
