Rattlers Resilient in 5-2 Win Over Martinez
The Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers used a stellar performance from pitcher E.J. Cabrera to throttle the Martinez offense en route to an extra-inning, 5-2 win at Hammond Stadium. Rancho Cucamonga reliever Lendon Porter picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. J.R. Lavarro was tagged with the loss. The Rattlers sit in 6th place in the California League South Division with a record of 40-49.

The decisive blow was delivered by Brian Kay in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a grand slam home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher J.R. Lavarro to win the game for Rancho Cucamonga. The home crowd went nuts.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Kay. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
