Stampede Best Blaze, 5-3
|
The San Bernardino Stampede defeated the Bakersfield Blaze, 5-3, in California League action at Jim Perry Stadium. San Bernardino pitcher Sammie García had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was García, now 2-8. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Santiago Baez finished to wrap up his 10th save.
San Bernardino used the bat of Hunter Carter to get the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Stampede ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
Carter told a San Bernardino Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
San Bernardino is now 40-54, while Bakersfield is 53-41.
