Pence goes 3-for-4 to Power Storm Offense
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Lake Elsinore Storm eventually prevailed.
A good performance from third baseman Micah Pence helped the Lake Elsinore Storm defeat the Lancaster JetHawks, 9-8. Pence was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Storm. Tanner Downing came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 4-1. Jordan Sanford got the save, the 18th for him this season.
With Lake Elsinore leading 7-3 in the top of the seventh, Pence came up to bat against Lancaster pitcher Harrison Heroux. Pence hit a fastball to right for a 2-run home run. His 10th home run of the season put the Storm on top, 9-3.
"Another day, another win. On to the next one," Pence told the Lake Elsinore Citizen.
Lake Elsinore has a record of 43-53, placing them 6th in the California League South Division.
