Recreation Park was host to some action-packed drama.

The Martinez Clippers eked out a 1-0 win versus the Santa Cruz Cruisers at Recreation Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Ned Achterberg. He was terrific. Martinez, at 45-55, sits in 8th place in the California League North Division.

The Clippers procured the win, in large part because of left fielder Ethan Wojcik. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

During his postgame press conference, Clippers manager Jonathan Benton told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
