The Modesto Nuts beat the Riverside Red Wave, 8-2, at John Thurman Field. The win was due in part to first baseman Lonnie Petit, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Kent Secaida earned the win to go to 1-0.
