A 3-RBI performance from Ricky Buford helped the Bakersfield Blaze beat the San Jose Giants, 9-2. At 57-44, the Blaze find themselves in first place in the California League South Division.

In the first inning, Buford had a 2-run home run for Bakersfield. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Blaze on top, 2-0.

Buford called the triumph "a good team win."
