The performance of Johnny Gardner proved critical in helping Lake Elsinore beat Santa Cruz, 7-6. The Storm second baseman was 2-2 with a double and 3 walks. Jordan Sanford earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The loss lowers the Santa Cruz record to 3-3.

The Storm relied on left fielder George Spencer for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"What a buzz," said Spencer after it was over.
