Spook Shears pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Sonoma Stompers, despite Shears's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Temecula Udder Tuggers at San Manuel Stadium. Temecula pitcher Jesús Ruelas earned the win, hiking his record to 1-1. Spook Shears suffered the loss. The loss drops Sonoma to 4-2.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Stompers allowed the Udder Tuggers to score the winning run.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Queen.
