The home crowd had a good time watching the Stockton Ports and San Bernardino Stampede get after it.
Abe Richards helped his team muscle past the Stockton Ports, 6-3. In the game, the San Bernardino first baseman was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Santiago Baez earned his 14th save in 19 chances.
Richards had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 changeup from Wesley Lynch, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Stampede a 6-3 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Richards.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Stockton manager Billy Hernandez. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
San Bernardino has a record of 47-62, placing them 8th in the California League South Division.
