3-2 Loss Extends Riverside Losing Streak
|
The Sonoma Stompers picked up a win at Bright House Field, taking down the Riverside Red Wave, 3-2. Starting pitcher Rich Hyde was a big reason why. In 7 innings, Hyde surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Aaron Paterson closed the game out for Sonoma, earning his 25th save.
Sonoma second baseman Sebastian Scott contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 72nd hit of the season and put the Stompers ahead, 3-1.
"I wish I had a genie in a bottle," said losing manager Ricky Mendoza. "First thing I'd ask for is a win."
The Red Wave, at 46-74, have lost 10 straight games.
