Stockton Shuts Out Sonoma, 5-0
|
In an outstanding mound performance, Stockton Ports starter B.J. Schutter fired a complete-game shutout against the Sonoma Stompers at Banner Island Ballpark today.
Schutter was the key to the Ports's 5-0 win. The 23-year-old right-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 5 hits and 1 walk he allowed.
"5 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
Presently Schutter has a 8-9 mark in 24 starts with a 4.95 ERA. He has given up 157 hits in 156.1 innings, struck out 117 and issued 46 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .257 batting average against him.
