The Sonoma Stompers picked up a win at San Jose Municipal Stadium, topping the San Jose Giants, 8-2. On the mound for Sonoma was left-hander Benjamin Magalhes. He played a principal role in the triumph. Sonoma now sports a record of 62-58.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher M.J. Thornton came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing San Jose pitcher Anthony Bunker, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Sonoma on top, 4-2.

"Things kind of got away from us," said San Jose skipper Leon Becerra.
