|
Bakersfield catcher Charlie Tupolev had a 4-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Stockton Ports, 6-2. Max Horton, the winner, improved to 8-7. He held Stockton to no runs on 2 hits over 7 innings, while racking up 10 strikeouts. With the victory, the Blaze record stands at 65-55.
Tupolev had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 sinker from Pingo Rondan, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Blaze a 3-0 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Tupolev.
Tupolev told a Bakersfield News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
