Getting a good performance from first baseman Blake Poquiz, the Santa Cruz Cruisers defeated the Lake Elsinore Storm, 10-3. Poquiz belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Cruisers. The winning pitcher was Cris Vega. He's now 1-0. He went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Cruisers. The Cruisers benefited from a costly error in the top of the third. With Grant Smithey at bat and Santa Cruz leading 2-1, the Lake Elsinore miscue allowed Santa Cruz to plate 2 and take the lead, 4-1.
