Stampede Defeat Stompers, 9-4
|
The San Bernardino Stampede powered past the Sonoma Stompers, 9-4, at Bright House Field. Cooper Batties was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2, to lead the charge. Karl Adams was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Jake Szilvas earned the save for San Bernardino, his 2nd.
In the top of the second, the Stampede took the lead, 2-0, when 22-year old catcher Ronaldy Sánchez grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"This win gets us that much closer to where we want to be," Sánchez said in postgame remarks.
The first-place Stampede, at 82-46, now lead their division by 5 games.
