Riverside Claims 6-4 Victory
|
The Riverside Red Wave knocked off the Ventura Gulls, 6-4, in California League action at Roger Dean Stadium. Riverside pitcher and Rogers, Minnesota, native Stefan Akan had an outstanding performance. Akan, the winner, moves to 7-7. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. Rob Jones collected save number 25.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Red Wave grabbed the lead when Rob Hernandez rapped a two-out single. Riverside was trailing 2-1, when Hernandez hit a 2-run single off J.R. Gonzalez to put his team in front, 3-2.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Hernandez.
Riverside has a record of 50-82, placing them 7th in the California League South Division.
