Red Wave Defeated, 4-1
|
Martinez took on Riverside in front of a lively crowd.
The Riverside Red Wave got a sterling performance from pitcher Paddy Errington, but the Martinez Clippers still prevailed, 4-1. Errington threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. Mike Martinson got credit for the win, improving to 3-4. He allowed no runs on no hits in 4.2 innings.
J.B. MacMillan drew 2 walks in 4 trips to the plate for Martinez. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Neddy Johansen. It was his 10th walk of the season.
Afterward, Clippers manager Cameron Schmidt said, "We had some good at-bats, some big at-bats in some key situations."
The 7th-place Clippers hiked their record to 62-71.
