Castro Propels Tampa Offense in 12-3 Rout
The Tampa Tarpons opened their season in style with a blowout win over the Jupiter Hammerheads at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The final score was 12-3. Tampa third baseman Olivar Castro led the attack. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. River Sample got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 1 and walking 3.

With Tampa leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Castro hit a fastball from Carson Faust for a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Tarpons ahead, 5-0.

"We played hard and won," said Castro. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
