Mariners Mow Down Tarpons, 9-2
|
Mariners center fielder Noah Bissambhar left his imprint on his team's 9-2 win over the Tampa Tarpons. Bissambhar was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Virginia Beach in the contest. Iorweth Martin picked up his 1st save of the season. The Mariners, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball.
Tied up with the Tarpons in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Mariners got a boost from first baseman J.C. Nararrete. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Nararrete saw a 3-1 sinker from Kameron Redden and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Virginia Beach on top, 3-1.
"We took it on the chin tonight," said losing manager Connor Ray.
