Marauders Get Hard-Earned Win
|
Virginia Beach second baseman Victor Echevarria had a good game, even if his team did not. The Mariners dropped a 3-2 decision to Bradenton at Virginia Beach Ballpark. Echevarria was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. Bradenton reliever Demott Washer picked up the win to move to 1-0. Aaron Martin suffered the loss. Sam O'Reilly was credited with the save for Bradenton, his 1st of the season.
Ben Salazar came through with a big-time hit for Bradenton. The center fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Virginia Beach skipper Jamie Harper, "and it cost us."
Virginia Beach is 2-2 after the defeat.
