Dash Nipped by Mariners, 7-6
|
Virginia Beach defeated Winston-Salem, 7-6, in large part due to 22-year old shortstop Robert Tate. Tate drove in 4 runs. The second baseman had 1 double and 1 home run for the Mariners. The loss puts Winston-Salem at 2-4.
With Virginia Beach leading 4-3 in the bottom of the fifth, Tate hit a fastball from Stanley Hida for a bases-clearing double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 7-3.
"We'll take this win and move on," said Tate.
