The Carolina Mudcats picked up a win at Five County Stadium, courtesy of Michael Havel. The right-hander helped his team stop the Salem Red Sox, 2-0. Havel yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 2-0. With the loss, Salem is 4-2.
Brent Batista went 1-2 with a double and 2 walks for Carolina. The 24-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Lark Enger. It was his 2nd walk of the season.
"Michael has got a slow heartbeat," said Carolina manager Edwin Saweeyanon. "He doesn't panic or anything."
