Renegades Over Dash, 7-4
|
The Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Winston-Salem Dash, 7-4, in East Coast League action at BB&T Ballpark. Hudson Valley pitcher Nathan Gitchell had a standout performance. Gitchell, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. The loss has the Dash at 7-7.
Hudson Valley used the bat of Jason Estrada to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Renegades ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
In postgame comments to the Hudson Valley Citizen, Gitchell said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
