Renegades Zap Blue Jays, 1-0
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Dunedin Blue Jays, pitcher Nathan Gitchell was the difference between victory and defeat. The Hudson Valley right-hander earned accolades in the 1-0 Renegades win. Gitchell got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 5.1 innings. Gitchell allowed no runs. Donald Gutiérrez picked up the save for Hudson Valley, his 2nd of the year.
Ahmad Soares drew 1 walk for Hudson Valley. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Hunter Peoples. It was his 7th walk of the season.
"I had a good feeling about this game even before we took the field," Soares told the Hudson Valley Citizen. "I'm glad it wasn't just gas."
With the win, Hudson Valley improves its record to 10-9.
