Tabares Excels, But Dash Win
|
The Winston-Salem Dash withstood an impressive performance by Traverse City third baseman Alejandro Tabares to defeat the Pit Spitters, 6-5, at BB&T Ballpark. Tabares slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. The win belongs to Gunnar Aguilar in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Howie Wright took the loss for Traverse City. Rhys Roby recorded his 1st save for Winston-Salem.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Bevon Duncan came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Traverse City pitcher Howie Wright, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Winston-Salem on top, 6-5.
"It feels good to get this one," Duncan told the Winston-Salem Herald.
Traverse City falls to 13-9.
