Mudcats Rally to Beat Mets, 7-2
|
Nathan Gunderson was instrumental in his team's 7-2 triumph over the St. Lucie Mets. The designated hitter went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Carolina Mudcats. Lyle Sponseller earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. Carolina has now reeled off 7 straight wins.
Gunderson had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Billy Harper, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Mudcats a 4-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Gunderson.
"No disrespect to the other team," said Carolina manager Trajano De Leon. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
