Dash Nipped by Fire Frogs, 5-4
|
Florida beat Winston-Salem at Osceola County Stadium, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Bryant Canessa. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Ed Lobb, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 5th save. The Fire Frogs, now 12-18, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Canessa had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-0 changeup from Ashton Walsh, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Fire Frogs a 5-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Canessa.
Florida manager Josh Constantin praised his team's "no BS approach."
