Fire Frogs Get One-Run Win at Dunedin
|
Florida picked up a win at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, toppling the Dunedin Blue Jays, 5-4. Pitcher Dave Mornay was one of the reasons the Fire Frogs triumphed. Mark Gunderson, now 2-2, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Florida is now 19-17.
Florida used the timely hitting of Evan Dawson to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Fire Frogs on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Mornay. "Successful pitchers do it."
