Cocoa Beaten, 7-2, by Winston-Salem
|
The Winston-Salem Dash took Ethan Carson's best shot and still were able to collect a win at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium. The final score had Winston-Salem getting past the Flyers, 7-2, in 14 innings. Carson over 5 innings allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 5. Jorge Cadena picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Rex Brown suffered the loss. The victory gives the Dash a record of 26-8.
Winston-Salem used the timely hitting of Enrique Resendiz to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Dash on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame comments to the Winston-Salem Chronicle, Resendiz said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
