Stone Crabs Nip Fire Frogs, 3-2
|
Fans watched the Charlotte Stone Crabs and the Florida Fire Frogs fight to the finish.
Charlotte pitcher B.J. Ruble did his part in helping his team beat the Florida Fire Frogs, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Reliever Alexis Alarez picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Jason Caldwell took the loss. Ross Lanigan earned save number 6 this season.
Charlotte used the timely hitting of Craig Colgan to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Stone Crabs on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This game tested our mettle," said Ruble.
The Stone Crabs raised their record to 26-18.
