The Virginia Beach Mariners had to overcome a big game from Winston-Salem left fielder Remy Pullen to leave BB&T Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Pullen was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Virginia Beach reliever Pablo Reyes was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Lawler Cordoba. Joshua Hollins sewed up the save, his 3rd.

It could have been a different outcome for Virginia Beach, had it not been for Daniel Alcantara, the 24-year old left fielder . Alcantara contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Virginia Beach up, 5-4.

"Big team win," Alcantara said later.

With the victory, the Mariners record now stands at 25-24.
