Mariners Reel Off Another Win, 7-3
The Virginia Beach Mariners topped the Carolina Mudcats, 7-3, in East Coast League action at Five County Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Virginia Beach pitcher and New York, native Vern Harlow. Virginia Beach is 4th in the East Coast League Mideast Division with a record of 32-27.

Virginia Beach used a well-timed hit by Stewie Alexis to capture the win. The first baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 6-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Alexis.
