Tampa Gets 3-1 Win
|
Tampa and Salem played a hard-fought contest.
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Tampa Tarpons and the Salem Red Sox. Tampa won it, 3-1. Tampa starter Duffy Rensch was in command. Stephen Bush was credited with the save for Tampa, his 6th of the season.
Tampa used a well-timed hit by Jude Lee to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tarpons ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Rensch told a Tampa Chronicle reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
The 8th-place Red Sox have dropped 4 straight games.
