Bradenton Gets 11-7 Win
|
Charlotte Sports Park was the site for East Coast League action featuring the Charlotte Stone Crabs and Bradenton Marauders.
The Bradenton Marauders stopped the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 11-7, at Charlotte Sports Park. The Marauders got a big game from Ellis Carrera, who went 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Weed Walker, now 2-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Chris Berger was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 10 save opportunities.
Bradenton used the timely hitting of Tom Madsen to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marauders on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We got the victory," said Carrera. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
Bradenton has a record of 27-40, placing them last in the East Coast League Florida Division.
