Stone Crabs Stick Dash with 5-3 Loss
|
Charlotte and Winston-Salem got after it at BB&T Ballpark.
Charlotte beat Winston-Salem on the strength of starter Morris Johnson's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. In 5.2 innings, Johnson surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Alexis Alarez closed it out for his 13th save.
Charlotte relied on the hitting of Josiah Bareiss to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Stone Crabs on top, 4-1. For the game, Bareiss had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Johnson called the win "a collective effort."
Charlotte is now 41-28.
