Mets Earn 4-3 Road Win Over Montreal
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the New York Mets and Montreal Expos.
New York Mets starter Yoandry Santiago pitched a strong game against the Montreal Expos at Olympic Stadium, leading the Mets to victory, 4-3. Santiago, now 1-1, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs. Colton Parisi recorded the save for New York, his 1st of the season.
New York used a well-timed hit by Jeremy Zimmerman to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mets ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Montreal manager Dirk Botelho. "But we decided not to take it."
New York now has a record of 2-4.
