Dash Down Red Sox, 5-2
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Salem Red Sox and Winston-Salem Dash get after it.
The Salem Red Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Damian Nix, but the Winston-Salem Dash still won the game, 5-2. Nix threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Winston-Salem reliever Rhys Roby picked up the win to move to 4-3. Noll Koszarek suffered the loss.
Had Ian Clark not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Clark hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Dash.
Clark said his team "played with determination."
The Dash, at 43-37, have now won 4 straight.
