Thanks in large part to shortstop Woody De Maria, the Boston Red Sox beat the Vancouver Cascades, 6-4. De Maria was 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Nicolás Alou, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 0. Boston is now 2-4.
Emrey Bello, who finished 5th in the AL in doubles with 51 in 2064, helped out the Boston cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the first baseman was 1-4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," De Maria told the Boston Observer.
