Pit Spitters Nip Blue Jays, 3-2

Traverse City picked up a win at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, toppling the Dunedin Blue Jays, 3-2. Pitcher Sam Gilliland was one of the reasons the Pit Spitters triumphed. In 6.1 innings, Gilliland surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Nate Godfrey closed it out for his 12th save.
Generoso Desoto dealt the Blue Jays a blow in the top of the fourth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Traverse City leading 2-0, Desoto hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Gilliland said after the game.
The 5th-place Pit Spitters lifted their record to 45-49.
