Ames starter Jordan Veillette pitched effectively against the Peoria Chiefs at Community Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-0. Ames reliever Joel Loucks picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Joe Lewis was saddled with the loss. The win gives Ames a record of 2-1.

Ames won the game in the bottom of the 15th inning. With no outs and Joe Lewis on the mound for Peoria, designated hitter Duke Robertson hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Sod Poodles fans to their feet.

"On the outside I was calm," said Sod Poodles manager Wil Coffey. "But inside I was a nervous wreck."
