The Lake County Captains put one in the win column with an opening day 2-1 triumph over the Quad Cities River Bandits. The crowd at Classic Park watched Antonio Santiago put on a fine performance. Santiago, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Chase Savage earned the save for Lake County, his 1st.
Lincoln Walker took Santos Porras deep in the bottom of the fifth. His solo home run put the Captains on top, 2-1. In all, Walker had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
