Whitecaps Earn 5-4 Win Versus Cubs
The home team gave their fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.

South Bend right fielder Max Galli was sensational. He was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. West Michigan beat the Cubs, 5-4. West Michigan reliever Jacob Cook got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Oscar Costa was tagged with the loss.

Emiliano Veras was the walk-off hero for West Michigan. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Whitecaps pinch hitter hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"This place was jumping at the end," Veras said.

With the loss, South Bend sinks to 1-3.
