Woolly Mammoths, Green Blast Muskies, 10-2
|
Westside and Madison got after it at Muskies Ballpark.
The Westside Woolly Mammoths beat the Madison Muskies, 10-2, with major props going to designated hitter Noah Green. On the day, Green went 2 for 2 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Woolly Mammoths. Vinny Vanderbeek, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2060 draft, was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed no runs on 4 hits, with no walks and 11 strikeouts.
Westside won the game in part because of Stewart Cicero. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Woolly Mammoths ahead, 2-0. For the game, Cicero had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We can't expect to win," said Madison manager Aaron Cox, "with that kind of performance."
Westside, with the win, is 4-2.
