No one was more impactful than Isaiah Hammond in the 4-2 South Bend win over Ames. Hammond was 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. South Bend reliever Lonnie Tomlin picked up the win to move to 1-0. Brandon Ralston suffered the loss. The Sod Poodles fall to 5-7 and continue their lackluster start to the 2064 season.
Mick Linke had a direct impact on the outcome. Linke contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put South Bend up, 3-1.
