Fort Wayne Triumphs with Late Surge
Ames third baseman Landon Black pounded Fort Wayne TinCaps pitchers at Community Field, but it was not enough to keep the Sod Poodles from falling, 8-5. Black was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Fort Wayne reliever Jorge Medina picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Sam Turano took the loss. Vincent Sedita was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

Fort Wayne used the timely hitting of Rob Crisp to capture the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the TinCaps on top, 8-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We maximized our offense today," said Fort Wayne skipper Nathan Halker. "That makes everyone's life easier."

The loss puts Ames at 6-6.
