Snappers Post 5-4 Win
|
The Beloit Snappers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Ames second baseman Derry Mellor by beating the Sod Poodles, 5-4, at Community Field. Mellor was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Earning his 5th save for Beloit was Vince Vetter. The win gives Beloit a record of 10-10.
Frederick Knives did the little things right to help the team for Beloit. The 21-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring strikeout off J.R. McDowell. It was his 11th RBI of the season.
Knives told the Beloit Chronicle: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
