Plott, Woolly Mammoths Too Much for Haymakers
|
The 10-5 Westside win over Cedar Rapids was due largely to Elijah Plott. The Woolly Mammoths center fielder went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 6. Westside pitcher Brian Bergfeld got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Wyatt Sokol got the loss. The Haymakers, at 5-15, have stumbled out of the gate.
Plott had a game-changing double in the top of the sixth. On a 0-2 fastball from Wyatt Sokol, he banged a bases-clearing double to left-center, giving the Woolly Mammoths a 7-5 lead. It was the 4th double of the year for Plott.
"We played hard and won," said Plott. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
