Win Makes Westside 9-9
|
The Westside Woolly Mammoths beat the Flint Wolverines, 7-4, at Municipal Stadium. Jerrell McClendon was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The 23-year old catcher was a menace to Flint all day. Cullen Mentzel went 7.1 innings for Westside to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs. He scattered 10 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 1. His record improves to 1-2. Renny Loflin, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
McClendon had a key at-bat for Westside in the bottom of the second. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave Westside an early 2-0 lead.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," McClendon told the Westside Daily.
Flint falls to 11-7.
