South Bend took on Flint in front of a lively crowd.
Getting a good performance from second baseman Alexander Thorsell, the South Bend Cubs defeated the Flint Wolverines, 6-1. Thorsell was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3 for the Cubs. Zeph Nocar was the winning pitcher. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Nat Cormier nailed down his 1st save.
Thorsell had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a run-scoring single. The Cubs went on to win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Thorsell.
With the loss, Flint is 6-12.
