The Fort Wayne TinCaps defeated the Westside Woolly Mammoths, 7-3, in Midwest League action at Parkview Field. Fort Wayne pitcher Daniel Amaro had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Amaro, now 1-1. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. David Henderson closed it out for Fort Wayne, earning his 1st save.
Dano Rivera had a big 2-run home run for the TinCaps in the bottom of the first inning. With Fort Wayne leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Stanford Spear and swatted a home run to center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the TinCaps ahead, 3-0.
"We did a lot of things right," said Rivera.
The loss drops Westside to 11-10.
