Haymakers Dealt 7-5 Home Loss
|
Ames and Cedar Rapids duked it out and the Sod Poodles came out victorious.
The Ames Sod Poodles defeated the Cedar Rapids Haymakers, 7-5, in Midwest League action at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Ames pitcher R.J. Erpenbach had a standout performance. The win belongs to Mason White in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Bienvenido Landestoy took the loss for Cedar Rapids. M.J. Prosperi earned the save for Ames, his 5th.
Nicholas Dewbre went 3-4 with 3 singles for Ames. With two out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Dewbre, who leads the MID in triples with 3, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Cedar Rapids hurler Joshua Gunzel, he hit a run-scoring single to give the Sod Poodles a 6-5 lead.
"We all want to win," said Erpenbach. "We all want to do our part."
The win puts the Sod Poodles at 15-15, while the Haymakers drop to 9-21.
