South Bend Beaten, 4-2, by Quad Cities
|
South Bend got a decent performance from pitcher Orlando Galvis, but it wasn't enough to beat the Quad Cities River Bandits. Quad Cities won the Modern Woodmen Park contest, 4-2. Galvis threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Quad Cities raised its record to 16-14 with the win.
Quintiliano Duran was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk for Quad Cities. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jesse Doyle. It was his 2nd walk of the season.
Duran told a Quad Cities Chronicle reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
