LumberKings Pick Up 5-3 Win
|
Clinton registered a win at Ashford University Field by beating the Fort Wayne TinCaps, 5-3. Pitcher Rik Turner was one reason why the LumberKings triumphed. Garrett Cheek nailed down the save. Clinton occupies second place in the Midwest League Western Division at 21-12.
Gregory Sherman went 2 for 4 with 2 singles for Clinton. The 23-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring single off Landon Miller. It was his 22nd hit of the season.
"I believe in our guys," said Clinton skipper Fernando Vasquez. "I like the energy they're playing with."
